Scott Hendrickson

Associate Dean of Marketing and Strategic Communications


Biography

Scott has more than 20 years of experience in leading marketing communications strategies to raise institutional visibility and increase support with extensive experience in higher education. His teams have won 38 industry awards for design, editorial, advertising, and campaign strategies. Scott has a master’s degree in integrated marketing and communications from Northwestern Medill and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Valparaiso University.

Prior to joining Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, Scott was the vice president of marketing and communications for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), assistant vice president of integrated marketing and communications at Valparaiso University, and director of marketing communications at the national headquarters of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). At SAIC, he led communications for the School’s 150th anniversary campaign, commissioning of the 2018 Biennale Architettura in Venice, and first-ever fundraising campaign; co-chaired the School’s anti-racism working group on communications; helped the institution improve its rankings in US News & World Report; launched an alumni magazine and an online store with branded apparel; served as chief information officer during the pandemic; and directed an institution-wide effort to redesign saic.edu. At Valparaiso, Scott oversaw university communications, partnering with advancement and admissions to strengthen the University’s mission and propel record-breaking enrollment growth. At the ELCA, Scott directed marketing communications for the 4.2-million-member organization through annual fundraising initiatives, member engagement programs, and national advertising campaigns.
